2007 5/6 Grade Cheer Champions!
 Welcome Minimize

Welcome to the

Platte County Youth Football League

Home of the Pirates and Buccaneers

The overall objective of this organization is to promote an ongoing youth football and cheer program in Northern Platte County, and to inspire in its participants the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship, and physical fitness, regardless of race, color, gender or creed.

More specifically, this organization will provide a program oriented to quality supervision and safety mindfulness; a program directed at teaching the fundamentals of youth football and cheerleading; and a program allowing its participants to grow with confidence, pride and spirit in an atmosphere that fosters these attributes both on and off the field.

This organization will strive for unity of purpose in its endeavors to encompass the whole, rather than that of its parts, and will strive to do so in a democratic fashion, free of adult ambition or personal glory.

The welfare and continuity of this organization rest with those who accept the challenges and responsibilities placed upon them for services to others in the overall youth football and cheer program.

3/4 Pirate Assistant Coach Willie Smith - Thursday, September 20, 2007
The PCYFL encompasses a great number of wonderful and caring people and this community is more like a large family.  One of the members of the community, Willie Smith, was recently diagnosed with a tumor on the back side of his heart.  Willie is an assistant coach for the 3rd/4th Pirates and his oldest son, "Little" Willie, is one of our PCYFL players.  Friends who would like to know how Willie's treatment is progressing may check a web site set up by his family to ensure that accurate information is available.   To read the family's journal, sign the guestbook and offer your thoughts, use the read more link.  Get better soon Willie!

Another PCYFL family member battles illness - Ryan Stallo - Sunday, September 23, 2007

We have another member of the PCYFL family who is battling a serious illness.  A number of us found out last year that Ryan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on Sept 25, 2006 - one week shy of his 2nd birthday.  The Stallos aren't asking for help for them personally, they just want to raise awareness of the illness and let others in on Ryan's trip to recovery.  Check out Ryan's site at the read more link that follows.

Why are the PC football players wearing #54 on their helmets? - Friday, August 25, 2006

Scheetz.jpg

“The times we may not remember but friends we’ll never forget.” We felt it was important to honor the memory of David Scheetz, a Platte County Youth Football Alumni, who was killed in a car accident in April 2006. His high school football number 54 can be seen on the helmets of youth and high school football players as a tribute to the incredible sportsman and human being he was.

David was the kind of boy all parents hope their child becomes. Mentor and friend to younger students, David always made time to talk with anyone who approached him. His larger than life personality and ability to enjoy every moment made people gravitate to him and instantly feel like they were a true friend.

David's parents, Bill and Paige Scheetz, played a key role in the early years of the Platte County Youth Football program. We are grateful to them for moving to our district and sharing this wonderful person with us. He will forever hold a place in the hearts of many Platte County residents as will his mom, dad and sister, Angela.
